A New Year celebration was organized in an excellent way by 54 Division on 7th April 2014 at 54 Division Headquarters with the guidance and direction of General Officer Commanding 54 Division Maj Gen KMU Wijerathne USP ndu. The festival was dominated with the traditional games as well as different types of modern New Year games so that each and every participant could enjoy. The celebration was graced by the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Competent Authority for resettling Internal Displaced Personal in Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc.
The remarkable and enchanted element of the festival was the traditional Sinhala village that was built according to the rituals and customs of New Year. All the participants were able to visit and enjoy the splendour of this village after the warm welcome of the ‘Korale Mahaththaya’ (cheif Headman) of the village.
