61 DIVISION ORGANIZES NEW YEAR FESTIVAL FOR VILLAGERS
In view of promoting goodwill and reconciliation among the Military and the civilians, 61 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ – (W) organized a Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival at 61 Division Headquarters play ground on 7th Apr 2014 (Monday).
Traditional events such as Cadjan Weaving, Eye Spotting, Fancy Dress, Tug-of-War, Cross Country Race and selecting AWURUDU KUMARI and KUMARA drew The attraction of the villagers as well as soldiers. A Musical Show Followed By The New Year Festival Was Organized which was witnessed by a larger gathering of civilians too, made the event more colorfully General Officer Commanding 61 Division, Brigadier DMWWWMRBM Daulagala RSP organized The event with the close collaboration of the villagers in the area.
The Commander Security Force (Wanni), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Competent Authority for resettling Internal Displaced Personal in Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
