61 DIVISION HOUSING PROJECT FOR SINHALESE PEOPLE DISPLACED BEFORE 1985
The Commander Security Force (W), Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, and Competent Authority for internal Displaced Personnel in the Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc, handed over the keys of five houses constructed at Poomalanthan Grama Seva Division in Madhu on 11 March 2014.
Troops of the 613 Brigade, Under the direction of 61 Division Commander (Brigadier D M W W W M R B M Daulagala RSP) constructed these houses as the first step of resettling 05 families. All these families were displaced from the area before 1985.
26th Sri Lanka Light Infantry Battalion and 24th Gajaba Regiment provided the complete requirement of manpower and material for the project and completed the project within a month. The Assistant Divisional Secretary Madhu extended his fullest support for the project by providing plots of land to three families. Further, the President Task Force given his fullest support for the project by providing plots of land and monetary assistance.
Names of civilians Who received keys of their new houses as fallows: W. K. Chandrasena, E. Newton, G. Ranjani E. Perera, Tony Suranjith Peiris and Jagath J. Fernando.
General Officer Commander 61 Division - Brigadier D M W W W M R B M Daulagala RSP, Commander 613 Brigade - Brigadier P A D Kahapola RSP, Commander 612 Brigade - Brigadier J C Gamage psc, Commander 611 Brigade - Colonel M P Lamahewa USP, Battalion Commanders of 61 Division, Assistant Divisional Secretary Madhu, senior military officers, government officials and a large number of people in the area were present at the occasion this morning.
