The village Bogaswewa of Divisional Secretariat Vavuniya South, which comes under 56 Division Area of Responsibility, had experienced numerous difficulties date to thirty years of long drawn conflict. During this period, the villagers were under tremendous pressure and people were forced out amidst LTTE’s atrocities in the area. The resettlement project directed by the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Competent Authority of resettlement of displaced personnel in North, Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc with the blessings of the Government commenced its mechanism to resettle villagers as the peace began to surface in Sri Lanka. The action plan that resettled 1750 families in Nandimithragama, Salalihinigama, Namalgama and Bogaswewa of divisional secretariat Vavuniya South was steered by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division, Brigadier D A R Ranawaka RSP IG.
On 06 May 2013 grand scale ceremony was organized by the Army to present deeds for new settlers as symbol of land distribution at Bogaswewa. The event was sponsored by the Sri Lanka Hadhabima Authority, where they distributed 800 numbers of agricultural tools to the farmers. The chief guest of the ceremony was the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Competent Authority of resettlement of displaced personnel in North, Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc. The Deputy Chief Sanga Nayaka for Northern Province, Saddarmakeerthi Sri Sumana Siddartha Ven. Atambagaskada Kalyanathisayabidhana NayakaThero also graced the occasion.
The Chief Coordinator of the project, General Officer Commanding of 56 Division, Brigadier D A R Ranawaka RSP IG, Chairman of Hadhabima Authority, Mr Nandasena Herath, Chief Organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for Vavuniya District, Mr Premarathna Sumathipala, Divisional Secretariat of Vavuniya South, Mr. M S Janaka, Senior Superentendent of Police of Vavuniya, Mr.Hemantha Adikari, Chief Organizer of Sri TELO, Udayarasan, distinguish guests and over 2500 number of villagers were also among the present.
