According to the instructions of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) 54 Infantry Division launched the "THURULIYA WENUWEN API" re plantation project in Wilpattu on 18th May 2019. The re-plantation project conducts in two phases. During first phase 76.5 Acres have surveyed to re-plant in four sites and 8603 saplings were planted.After successfully completing 90% of phase one, the second phase was successfully launched on15 August 2020, under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding - 54 Infantry Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu.
The second phase include 268 Acres under seven sites. The lunching ceremony was held in Kallaru site with the presence of teachers and prefect bored members of Horizon College International in Malabe. In the opening ceremony, 200 saplings were planted in Kallaru site and needed materials for dripping system were donated by Horizon College International.
General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division grace the occasion as the chief guest, on behalf of the Commander Security Forces (Wanni). Senior Officers/ Officers and cross section of other Ranks from 54 Infantry Division, 542 Infantry Brigade and 8 Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were participated in the event.
