WORK COMMENCED AT THE LAYING FIRST BRICK FOR “HATHARES KOTUWA” AT SANDAHIRU SEYA STHUPA

Sandhahiru Seya Stupa is being constructed to commemorate and pay the utmost respect to the war heroes those who have contributed to eliminate the three decades long separatist terrorism from the mother land. The work have been commenced on the “Hathares Kotuwa” with the fall auspices time today, in front of a large gathering of Maha Nayaka Theros in the Anuradhapura area and Tri-force and CDF personals.

Keeping in line with the traditions and prime place to religious observances the first brick for the construction of square chamber was auspiciously laid by The Commander SFHQ (Wanni) Major General JMUD Jayasinghe by gracing the occasion on behalf of the Secretary of Defence Major General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil on 25 May 2020.

All the construction work of this third most largest sthupa at Anuradhapuraya was carried out by the skill full work force of the Tri-force and CDF. General Officer commanding 21 Division, Commander 212 Brigade, Commanding Officers of 9 ESR, 2 ESR, and 5 SLNG. Officers and Other Ranks were present at the ceremony.
