The chief thero of Sri Bodhirukkarama temple, Aliwanguwa, Padavi Sripura and Sri Purwarama temple, Moragahahena, Horana, Venerable Millewe Sumanathissa thero was received an honoury title as “Maha Vihara Wanshika Shyomopali Maha Nikaye Nuwara Kalaviya Pradhana Sanghanayake”.
A welcome ceremony was organized by the Sri Bodhirukkarama temple with the coordination with 62 Division under the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe on 11 January 2020.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Hon Karu Jayasuriya graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
A colourful procession was organized to welcome the Most Venerable Thero from the Aliwanguwa junction to the temple and it was decorated with Dancing Teams, Flag Bearers, Sesath, etc.
The "Sannasa" was offered to Venerable Millewe Sumanathissa thero by the Speaker of the Parliament, Hon Karu Jayasuriya while the "Vijini Pathra" was offered to the Nayake thero by the General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe.
Senior Officer, Officers and Other Ranks of 62 Division and under command battalions, children of the Dhamma school of the temple and civilians in the area participated in the ceremony.
