TROOPS UNDER SECURITY FORCE (WANNI) CLEANED THE COASTAL LINES IN MANNAR AND PULMUDAI

Adding one more lead to the programme of Beach Clearing headed by the Army under the directions of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc for making a country free of waste, a mega programme of cleaning the coastal areas in Mannar and Pulmudai was organised by troops under 54 and 62 Divisions on 29 December 2019.

The programme was organised under the direct supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri ndu psc.

The Coastal area lying from Mundhan Piddi to Wankalei was cleaned by troops of 12 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and 10 (V) Gemunu Watch under 541 Brigade. The cleaning programme from Kayakkuli to Silawathura coastal area was organised by troops of 22 Battalion Gajaba Regiment together with 15 Gemunu Watch under 542 Brigade while South bar to Keeri coastal area was cleaned by 7 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment along with 5 (V) Battalion Gajaba Regiment under 543 Brigade. As battalions out from the 54 Division Area of Responsibility, 24 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 2 Battalion Mechanised Infantry and 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry too made their contribution to clean the coastal areas in Mannar.

General Officer Commanding 54 Division Brigadier DSD Welikala WWV RWP RSP USP directed his under command troops to organise the programme launched in Mannar coastal areas.

In same, troops under command to all formations of 62 Division gathered in the cleaning programme at coastal areas lying in Pulmudai. Approximately an area of 15 Km was cleaned through this programme which was launched under the directions of General Officer Commanding 62 Division Major General JMUD Jayasinghe.

Over 1000 troops under Security Force (Wanni) enthusiastically engaged in this programme launched in coastal areas of Mannar and Pulmudai.

Many local and foreign visitors who were enjoying in those coastal areas voluntarily gathered in the programme by admiring the effort of soldiers.
