Sport is one of the key activities of enhancing physical robustness, team spirit and the unity in moulding a fully-fledged military figure. Organising such activities cooperatively with the civil community, makes the path for reconciliation among all ethnic groups in wanni region.
In that context, the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc initiated to direct his troops in organising an Inter Club Softball Cricket Tournament on 16 September 2018 with the participation of Sports Clubs in Wanni area.
The grand final match of the tournament was held between 56 Division Cricket Team and Adiknilamadha Cricket Club at the playground in 56 Division Headquarters. After a nail biting battle between both teams, the Adiknilamadha Cricket Club was emerged as the winners of the Tournament.
The awarding of prizes to winners was ceremonially organised by troops of 56 Division and its General Officer Commanding Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Senior Staff Officers, Officers of 56 Division Headquarters and under command formations and number of civilians participated in the final ceremony.
