As another step forward for the reconciliation process conceptualised by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc guided his troops in organising an Inter Club Cricket Tournament during three days with the representation of 10 Sports Clubs in Wanni area.
The grand final match and the closing ceremony were held between Pandara Wanni and Solidy Cricket Clubs on 18 August 2018 at the playground in 56 Division Headquarters. After a nail biting battle between both teams, the Solidy Cricket Club was emerged as the Champion Cricket Team of Inter Club Cricket Tournament – 2018 and they were awarded with the 56 Division Challenge Trophy.
The awarding of prizes and trophies to winners was ceremonially organised by troops of 56 Division and General Officer Commanding - 56 Division Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The Hydramani Fashion Company, a well-known fashion industry in Vavuniya area sponsored for organising the Cricket Tournament and the sponsorship was coordinated by the Commander 561 Brigade Colonel A C Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP.
The General Officer Commanding of 56 Division, the Commander 563 Brigade, Commanding Officers of under command battalions to 56 Division, Superintendent of Police III Vavuniya, Divisional Forest Officer Vavuniya, Principals, Regional Sport Officers and large number of civilians participated in the final ceremony.
