TROOPS TRYING TO SAVE THE LIFE OF AN INJURED TUSKER

On an Information received from an informant to 561 Brigade Intelligence section, Intelligence troops observed a Tusker has been injured on a swamp in a paddy field in Puthuwilankulam area in Mannakulam GN Division in Vavuniya district.

With the guidance of Commander Security Forces Wanni Major Genaral Hemantha Bandara, Commander 56 Infantry Division and Commander 561 Infantry Brigade took immediate actions to save the life of a Tusker after liaison with Wild Life OIC – Vavuniya, deploying 16 SLSR troops and police personnel for it’s security.

Further, the Wild Life Veterinary Surgeon – North Province treated the Tusker on 09 May and troops fed the Tusker with wild life officials as per the direction of veterinary surgeon. Veterinary surgeon further instructed not to evacuate the Tusker from the sight, since the swamp is more convenience for it’s health, till he complete the treatment in coming few days.
