Diwali or Deepavali is one of the biggest and auspicious festivals celebrated by Hindus all around the globe. It is one of the most symbolic Hindu festival and all the communities in the country celebrate it with much pomp. Members of the Army 65 Infantry Division, 651, 652 and 653 Infantry Brigades under the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) with the intention of promoting reconciliation and goodwill supported the conduct of the holy Deepavali festival on Thursday (04) in Palinagar, Thunukkai and Madu areas.
Troops of under command battalions in 65 Infantry Division 10 SLLI, 19 SLLI, 24 GR and 17 (V) SLLI extending their helping hands to organize supply of free meals and refreshments to the patients and staffs of government hospitals and low income Hindu families on Deepavali day. The programme was coordinated by the Civil Affairs Officer and his staff with the supervision of General Officer Commanding 65 Infantry Division Maj Gen K A Samarasiri RWP RSP USP psc.
The troops were able to distribute 505 lunch packets to Mallivi & Mulankavil government hospitals and low income Hindu families in Mulankavil, Nachchcikuda, Alankulam, Iranamathanagar, Siraddikulam, Ambalpuram, Palinagar, Kirisuddan and Kalvilan GN Divisions.
