TROOPS OF 61 DIVISION JOIN HANDS TO ASSIST HANDICAPPED IN WANNI AREA

As a continuation of another programme for helping handicapped in wanni area, troops of 61 Division launched the second phase of preparing artificial limbs for number of handicapped having low income in Madu, Echchankulam and Nandankandal areas.

A selected group of handicapped gathered at the Headquarters premises of 613 Brigade on 07 September 2018 to fit on the prepared limbs according to the measures taken at the first phase duringlast month.

This charitable programme was initiated by the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathne RWP RSP by coordinating with the Centre for Handicapped in Kundasale.

A team under Mr S S Aththanayake of the Centre for Handicapped, Kundasale assisted to launch the second phase of distributing artificial limbs during the programme organised at the Headquarters premises of 613 Brigade under the supervision of the Commander 613 Brigade Colonel R K N C Jayawardhana RSP.

Staff officers of 61 Division and 613 Brigade, Other Ranks and number of villagers in Madu, Echchankulam, Nandankandal areas were present at the occasion.
