As another step forward to strengthen the reconciliation process and assistance to needy people " the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, and troops under 61 Division contributed their generous assistance to provide Artificial Limbs to the disabled people of low income in Madu, Echchankulam and Nandankandal areas.
The first step of preparing Artificial Limbs was commenced on 7 August 2018 and it will be launched under three steps as measuring, fit on and distribution among the handicapped. This programme is going to be operated in collaboration with the Center for Handicapped in Kundasale.
The entire project of selecting handicapped and distribution of prepared Artificial Limbs to the needy people will be launched under the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathne RWP RSP.
Civil Authorities and Grama Niladharies in Madu, Echchankulam and Nandankandal areas have taken impartial procedures in order to identify the most suitable recipients of Artificial Limbs.
In the first phase, 22 Civilians were opted for taking measurements with the assistance of a Medical Officer and it was held at the headquarters premises of 613 Brigade under the supervision of the Commander 613 Brigade Colonel R K N C Jayawardhana RSP.
The Prosthesis and Orthotic Mr. S S Aththanayake with his team from the Centre for Handicapped, the Commander 613 Brigade Colonel R K N C Jayawardhana RSP, Officers of 61 Division and 613 Brigade participated in the event.
