Construction of a new house for a needy family in Marathodai Grama Niladari Division commenced on 07 July 2021 under the direction of Commander 623 Infantry Brigade, Colonel M J R S Medagoda RSP USP psc IG. The foundation stone for constructing house was laid by Commanding Officer, 11 Battalion the Gemunu Watch, Lieutenant Colonel P W Karunarathne RSP USP with the participation of staff of brigade and the battalion. However Mr. N S J Dissanayake, a businessman of Sapumalgasthenna village agreed to supply materials for construction and anticipate to complete the project by the 72nd anniversary Day of Sri Lanka Army.
