The troops of 5th (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry in collaboration with the District Forest Officer - Vavuniya, launched a tree planting programme at the general area Sinasippikulam, in order to prevent Soil erosion due to afterwards excavating gravel to the construction site of Regional Ordnance Depot (Ammunition Dump) Gajasinghapura on 08 December 2020, as per the direction of the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General W L P W Perera RWP RSP ndu. The tree planting programme campaign was organized and implemented with the guidance of General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP and under the supervision of Commander 213 Infantry Brigade. 300 saplings were planted in the varieties of Kumbuk, Mee, Mora, Thelambu and Bulu which are suitable to dry zone during the campaign.
District Forest Officer and Assistant District Forest Officer Vavuniya, Commanding Officers of 5th (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 4th Sri Lanka National Guard, second In Command of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major (Admin and Quartering) and Civil Affairs Officer of 213 Infantry Brigade participated the occasion.
