THURU MITHURU NAWA RATAK TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

Tree - planting and distribution of saplings programmes were held on 10th October 2021 under the patronage of General Officer Commanding - 62 Infantry Division, Major General Upali Gunasekara to coincide with the 72nd anniversary day of the Sri Lanka Army.

Under the series of events 621 Infantry Brigade launched a tree - planting campaign in the camp premises to plant 200 Jack saplings and 100 coconut saplings with the guidance of Brigadier Keerthi Perakum, Brigade commander 621 Infantry Brigade. And also 621 Infantry Brigade and 14 (V) SLLI troops planted 50 coconut saplings at Sri Gajaba Temple premises and distributed 200 coconut saplings to the villagers of Gajabapura. Brigadier Keerthi Perakum, Brigade Commander 621 Infantry Brigade, Lt Col Jinesh Liyanagama CO 14 (V) SLLI, Officers and Other Rankers, Kurunegala Nandasara Thero - Chief Monk of Sri Gajaba Temple, Gajabapura, and hundreds of villagers participated in the event.

622 Infantry Brigade and 9th Gajaba Regiment troops distributed 150 saplings (Mango, Jack, Guava, Lime and Kumbuk) at Halabawewa Temple to the residents of the area and Gramaniladari, Chief Thero, and many others participated in the event. 20th Gajaba Regiment troops distributed 100 saplings (Kohomba, Mee and Kumbuk) at Paranamedawachciya GN division. Further, Troops have been assigned the task of growing those tree saplings until maturity.
