Under the concept and guidance of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc Commandant – SLAVF, Cricket tournament was organized with the aim of breaking the monotony of daily duties and fostering teamwork, leadership and Camaraderie among Troops. The semi - final matches were held on 27 August 2025 at the SLAVF Playground , with enthusiastic participation from under – command battalions.
Out of the Sixty five battalions under the Volunteer Force, ten battalions Qualified for the Second round. 2 Battalion Sri Lanka Signal Corp (2 (V) SLSC), 17 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (17 (V) SLLI), 5 Battalion Sri Lanka Singha Regiment (5 (V) SLSR) and 10 Battalion Sri Lanka Vijayabahu Regiment (10 (V) VIR) were qualified for the Semi Finals at the final match 17 (V) SLLI emerged as Champions, while 5 (V) SLSR became the runners - up .
Coming to the final conclusion, It is considered a special event that these two units are within the SFHQ (Wanni) matches were played in the true spirit of Sportsmanship with all players demonstrating dedication, discipline and unity. Apart from the championship trophy, gifts were also presented to both the winners and runners –up as appreciation for their outstanding performances and participation.
