Sri Lanka Army Undertakes Development Work at Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Premises in Line with 76th Army Day

In conjunction with the 76th Army Day and in parallel with the forthcoming Flag Blessing Ceremony, the Sri Lanka Army carried out a series of development works at the premises of the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.

The Flag Blessing Ceremony was held on 26 September 2025 at the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, coinciding with these initiatives. At the request of the Chief Incumbent of the Atamasthana, the Most Venerable Pallegama Somarathana Nayaka Thero, the Army undertook the laying of stones at the Mada Maluwa and painting works at the Sannipatha hall.

These works were successfully completed under the direction of Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), with the guidance of Major General M W M R C Wijesooriya RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division, and close supervision of Brigadier B A M P Balasooriya RSP, Commander, 212 Infantry Brigade.

The development projects were carried out by troops of the 7 (V) Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and and 4 Sri Lanka National Guard, under command to the 212 Infantry Brigade, together with the professional expertise of 2 Corps of Engineering Service soldiers.
