SECURITY FORCE (WANNI) VESTS TWO MORE HOUSES FOR LESS PRIVILEGED FAMILIES

Two more newly constructed houses were declared opened on 10 April 2019 by Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu with his vision of facilitating underprivileged families in Wanni region.

First house was given to the family of Miss. R Nivarsana 11 year old living in Ganeshapuram, Vavuniya. She was a recipient of a scholarship after scoring high in the 5th grade scholarship exam winning the third place in the District. The scholarship was granted by Eng. Asoka Weerasinghe and Dr Nandani Weerasinghe and coordinated by Brigadier Jayampathy Thilakaratne, General Officer Commanding 61 Division. The family of Miss. R Nivarsana was sheltered in a wattle and daub dilapidated hut without any basic facilities.After observing this, the Colonel General Staff, Colonel Anil Peiris, through his personal affiliations, coordinated Mr Chanadana Alahakoonto sponsor the cost of construction. Thetroops of 2 Battalion Mechanised Infantry Regiment constructed of houseunder the guidance of 211 Brigade with the supervision of General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana RSP.

The second beneficiary was Mr Nagarasa Murthi’s family. He was living with his wife and two children in great despair due to economic constraints for a long time at Pampeimadu in Vavuniya. Colonel General Staff, Colonel Anil Peiris, through his personal affiliations invited Major (Rtd) Shan Fernando, who was keenly waiting for an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a destitute family, to provide financial requirements to construct a new house for the family of Mr Nagarasa Murthi.

Construction of house for Mr Nagarasa Murthi was undertaken by 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 621 Brigade with the supervision of General Officer Commanding - 62 Division Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe.

Further, General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathne RWP RSP, provided them with 100 Coconut saplings, some crops and livestock to upgrade their living standard along with a modern electric tube well costing over Rs. 100,000.00.

General Officers Commanding 61 and 62 Divisions, Senior Officers representing Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), family members of beneficiaries and many villagers were present.
