THE SECURITY FORCE WANNI INTER DIVISION CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP – 2016
The Security Force Wanni - Inter Division Cycling Championship – 2016 was held on 3 December 2016 at the Security Force Headquarters (WANNI). The event was graced by Maj Gen J R Kulatunga RSP ndc psc Commander, Security Force (WANNI) on the invitation of Maj Gen S H F P Perera RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division. The event was organized by the 61 Division.\r\n\r\nThe mens’ event covered a distance of 88 km, whilst the womens’ event covered a distance of 40 km. Seven teams representing SF HQ (WANNI), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 and a team from FMA (North Central) participated for the event.\r\n\r\nAfter a stiff competition, the 61 Division team emerged as overall champions of the mens’ event and 21 Divison team became the runner up. The womens’ event was won by 2 (V) SLAWC team whilst 4 (V) SLAWC team became runner up. S/100022 RFM Rupasinghe RASH of 17 (V) SLSR was awarded the first place of the mens’ event whilst S/89207 PTE Amarasinghe WGGN of 2 (V) SLAWC won the womens’ award.\r\n\r\nThe awards ceremony was graced by the Commander Security Force (WANNI). GOCs, Bde Comds, COs, Officers and ORs participated. The event was concluded after the thanking speech done by the GOC.
