Security Force - Wanni joined hands with the World Young Buddhist Association – Malaysia and the Maha Karuna Buddhist Association, Malaysia under their ‘Sisu Sarana’ programme, under the auspices of Ven. Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero in organizing an alms-giving for 500 Monks at Siri Sumanarama Temple in Periyaulukkukulama on 28 January 2018. The Alms giving was preceded by providing financial assistance to all monks present for their Dhamma education and a distribution of crockery sets to 64 selected temples. Continuing with the program, a donation was organized on 29 January 2018 to provide essential school items and stationeries for 385 needy students at Siri Sumanarama Dhamma School, Periyaulukkukulama and Asarana Sarana Dhamma School at Sri Chethiyagiri Temple, Awaranthulawa.
Both events were attended by the General Secretary of World Young Buddhist Association, Ven. Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero and Commander Security Force - Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu along with Malaysian members of both organizations while 350 monks from temples in Wanni region participated in partaking the Alms. On completion of monks Alms Giving all villages that were present too were treated with a sumptuous lunch. The Government Agent - Vavuniya, Mr. Somarathna Widhanapathirana, Divisional Secretary of Vavuniya Sinhala Division, Mr.M.S. Janaka, group of devout Buddhists from Malaysia and large number of villages were present during both occasions.
Able assistance and guidance of both Ven. Mahakachchikodiye Dhammananda Thero and Periyaulukkulame Sumanathissa Thero was invaluable to organize the events in a grandeur manner.
Commanding Officers and troops of 22 Gajaba and 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiments organized both events under the guidance of Commander 211 Brigade, Colonel Tharaka Rathnasekara USP and General Officer Commanding 21 Division, Major General Ruwan de Silva USP IG.
Both events were organized on directions of the Commander Security Force - Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu.
