Continuing the social welfare projects initiated by Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) under the supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc, an Eye Clinic and donation programme of spectacles were organised on 13 September 2019 to facilitate needy people in Wanni region who are having eye defects.
This great social welfare programme was sponsored by the Lions Club Matara and it was coordinated by the Assistant Civil Affairs Officer of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Lieutenant Colonel G A L Kithsiri through his personal affiliation.
Over 300 civilians representing all communities in Wanni area attended the event and they were undergone a complete check-up and provided spectacles.
The Eye Clinic was conducted by a medical team comprised of Eye Specialists, Technicians and Staff of District General Hospital Vavuniya.
The programme was taken place at the Headquarters premises of 56 Division and the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General H P Senavirathne VSV USP ndu made his presence for the donation of spectacles on behalf of representing the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc.
Members of Lions Club Matara, Senior Officers of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) and 56 Division, Civil Affairs Officers of Divisions under Security Force (Wanni), large number of civilians made their presence for the event.
