On an initiative of Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, third awareness programme was conducted to educate families of Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Teachers from the Education Zone Vavuniya on instances of domestic violence, child abuses & repercussions of same when such children become adults as well as ill effects of present-day social trends and social media. The programme was held on 17 December 2018 for an audience of over 1500 family members.
The Chief Inspector of Police from the Child and Women Bureau, Mr. Manoj Samarasekara, conducted the program on Child Abuses, ill-treatment and effects of social media / anti-social trends. He highlighted several incidents of criminal nature and stated that most perpetrators themselves are ones that have suffered similarly during their early childhood. Further, he emphasized the importance of restoring moral values and ethics in the society to prevent crimes against children.
The awareness lecture was made more interesting by Mr Sumith Madanayake and Mr. Sachin Dushyantha by singing classical songs and some culturally based proses depicting moral value. General Officers Commanding of 21, 54, 56 and 61 Divisions, Senior Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Officers representing sister services, many Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks from all under command formations enthusiastically attended the programme.
Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), on instructions of Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, provided transport and a sumptuous lunch for everyone who attended.
