Under the guidance of Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc Commander Security Forces (Wanni), an excursion to Jaffna was organised on 31 October 2025 as a gesture of appreciation for the dedicated service rendered by the troops of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni). A total of 18 Officers and 146 Other Ranks participated in the visit.
During the programme, the troops visited several historically and culturally significant landmarks, including the Kokavil Monument, the Hasalaka Gamini war Hero Monument, the Elephant Pass Monument, the General Denzil Kobbekaduwa Monument, the Nallur Kandaswamy Hindu Temple, the Jaffna Fort and the Jaffna Public Library. They also enjoyed refreshments at the well-known RIO Ice Cream parlour.
In the afternoon the group visited the Casuarina Beach where they were provided the opportunity to rest and recuperate enjoy lunch and experience the scenic sunset. The visit enabled participants to reflect on the region’s rich heritage the sacrifices made during the conflict and the continuing development taking place in the Northern Province.
This excursion was organised with the aim of enhancing camaraderie mutual understanding and teamwork among the troops whilst also providing them with a positive and refreshing break from routine operational responsibilities. The event concluded successfully with participants expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to broaden their perspectives and strengthen bonds within the military community.
