As an instruction given by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc, a blood donation campaign was organised at Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) on 23 October 2019 at the camp premises of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni).
The Consultant Transfusion Physician of Blood Bank - General Hospital Anuradhapura has made a request from the Commander Security Force (Wanni) to assist in conducting a blood donation campaign in order to fulfil the timely urgent requirement of different types of blood categories, platelets and fresh plasma.
As a result of the prompt actions taken by the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) was able to organise the blood donation campaign within 12 hours of time. There, more than 300 troops representing all under command formations to Security Force (Wanni) voluntarily made their contribution to donate blood to fulfil the existing low stock of blood at North Central Province Hospitals.
A medical team from General Hospital Anuradhapura together with the medical staff of Field Hospital Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) conducted this blood donation campaign successfully.
