Continuing the Army headed project of “Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak” for making country a greenish and echo-friendly Island, troops under Security Force (Wanni) with the direction of Commander Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri ndu psc organised mega tree planting programmes at several areas in Wanni region.
Under this project, the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Major General RKBS Ketakumbura RSP has directed his troops to organise a tree planting drive in his Division Area.
Manipulating the directions of General Officer Commanding 61 Division, 100 saplings were planted at the camp premises of 612 Brigade under the supervision of the Commander 612 Brigade Colonel SWB Welagedara RWP USP.
In same, troops of 622 Brigade under the instructions of Commander 622 Brigade Colonel AMCP Wijayarathne RWP RSP psc organised another tree planting programme at Kiri Ibbanwewa area in Welioya. Tree planting campaign of 62 Division was launched with the supervision of General Officer Commanding 62 Division Major General JMUD Jayasinghe.
Senior Officers, Officers, number of Other Ranks of Headquarters 61, 62 Divisions and under command formations participated in these programmes.
