Philanthropists Professor Ranil Fernando, Professor Ashwini Fernando and Mrs. Shanthi Perera, through their benevolence, donated approx Rs. 600,000.00 of their private money to construct a house for Mrs. B R N K Menike and her 12 year old son through the Chairperson of “Success” (Jayagrahanaya) organization Dr. Anula Wijesundera. On instructions of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Brigadier Prabath Dematampitiya ndu psc, tasked Commander 563 Brigade Colonel Upali Gunesekera RWP USP IG and his troops to construct the house.
The newly constructed house was handed over to Mrs. B R N K Menike by Professor Ranil Fernando, Professor Ashwini Fernando and Dr. Anula Wijesundera in a simple ceremony held on 22 July 2018 in the presence of Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu. General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Brigadier Prabath Dematampitiya ndu psc, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Brigadier Ranjan Premalal USP, Commander 563 Brigade Colenal Upali Gunesekera RWP USP IG and many more Officers and Other Ranks participated at the event.
After handing over of the house Professor Ranil Fernando, Professor Ashwini Fernando, Dr. Ajitha Wijesundera and Dr. Anula Wijesundera conducted a medical camp at the regional hospital Bogaswewa for the needy people in the area.
