Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a series of events from 20 to 25 November 2018. Commencement of events was by way of religious observances by Viharadhikari of Sri Dhaladha Viharaya Madukanda, Shrashthrapathi Ven Kirigalwewe Wimalarathna thero who conducted a Bodhi Poojava in the evening of 22 November with the presence of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.
On 23 November 2018 celebrations commenced with a guard turnout and continued with offering floral tribute at the fallen war heroes’ monument, 14 Sri Lanka Rocket Regiment according a Guard of Honour to Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, tree planting, and an all ranks tea party. Subsequently, the Chief Guest appeared for a group photograph in front of the main Office Complex with all participated Officers of and Other Ranks.
General Officers Commanding 54 and 62 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of under command Battalions with large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present at the occasion.
Addressing troops, Commander Security Force (Wanni), detailed out the progress made during the past year including various events organized to enhance reconciliation as well to uplift the livelihood of underprivileged people in the area and finally he wished everyone success in all future endeavours.
As part of the celebrations get-togethers were organized at the Non-Commissioned Officers’ Club with the presence of Brigadier General Staff & Brigadier Administration and Quartering of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) as Chief Guests and at Warrant Officers’/ Sergeants’ Mess which was graced by Commander Security Force (Wanni).
As the culmination of the celebrations, an all rank dinner was organized at the Auditorium along with a musical cum dance performance programme on 25 November 2018 with the attendance of Commander Security Force (Wanni) and General Officers Commanding of 54 and 62 Divisions.
Senior Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers from under command Battalions, Officers and number of Other Ranks too were present at the finale event.
All events were organized under the guidance and close supervision of Brigadier Administration and Quartering of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Brigadier Ranjan Premalal USP, with precise pomp maintaining formal military traditions and highest standards.
