As a continuation of Social Welfare in Wanni region, troops under Security Force Wanni constructed two preschools in remote areas of Diviya Uda Benda Wewa and Maradha Maduwa in Anuradhapura and Vavuniya districts, funded by Hemas Outreach Foundation under their “Piyawara” early childhood development project.
The newly constructed preschools were declared open on 28 July 2018 by the Chief Executive Officer of HEMAS Holdings PLC Mr Stephen Endurbi & Mrs Morin Endurbi and the Executive Director Hemas Outreach Foundation/General Manager Communications and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala with the participation of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu together with other officials of Hemas Holdings PLC and Hemas Outreach Foundation.
Hemas Holdings and its Outreach Foundation currently maintains and monitors 47 child friendly preschools in Sri Lanka with over three thousand children receiving their early childhood development. As another step forward of the project, these two schools were opened as its 46th and 47th preschools in Marada Maduwa and Diviya Uda Benda Wewa that consists of all three communities. Under the “Piyawara” project teacher training, parental awareness, community building and many other facilities will be provided annually to the people in those areas.
Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) contributed by constructing these two pre schools as a further step towards reconciliation process conceptualized by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu. With these two preschools the Security Force (Wanni) has constructed 6 pre schools for the benefit of the future generation in Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Mannar Districts.
The entire project was under direct supervision of General Officer Commanding 21 Division Major General Ruwan De Silva USP ndu IG and undertaken by Commander 212 Brigade, Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa USP and Commander 213 Brigade, Colonel Sudath Rathnayake.
