SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS WANNI TO BUILD TWO PRE-SCHOOLS FUNDED BY HEMAS OUTREACH FOUNDATION

Security Forces Headquarters Wanni will be constructing two preschools in remote areas of Anuradhapura and Vavuniya districts funded by Hemas Outreach Foundation.

Hemas Holdings primary corporate social responsibility project ‘Piyawara’ in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs focuses on Early Childhood Care & Development in Sri Lankaby establishing child friendly preschools across the country. Currently 44 preschools are operational in Sri Lanka with over 3500 children receiving their early education.

As a continuation of their“Piyawara” project, Hemas came forward to fund two more preschools after seeing the hardships of the civilians in two under privileged remote areas of MaradaMaduwaand DiviyaUda Benda Wewa that consistsof all three communities. On 19 March 2018 foundation stoneswereauspiciously laid to constructRan Tharu preschool in MaradaMaduwaand Ekamuthu preschool in DiviyaUda Benda Wewawhich were long-felt requirementsin the areas.The ‘Piyawara’ program goes beyond brick and mortar with a holistic approach to early childhood development. Under this program teacher training, parental awareness and many other facilities will be provided to the community annually whilst it will be under the monitoring mechanisms set by the Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.

Security Force Headquarters Wanni joins with thisvaluable effort as a further step for the reconciliation process launched by the Commander of the Army. With these two preschools the Security Force Wanni has constructed 4 preschools and one a Primary School in the area for the benefit of the future generation.

Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu graced this important event as the chief guest. General Officer Commanding 21 Division Major General Ruwan Silva USP ndu IG, Senior Officers of under command formations to 21 Division and large number of villagers participated in the occasion.

The project will progress under the direct supervision of GOC 21 Division Major General Ruwan Silva USP ndu IG and undertaken by Commander 212 Brigade, Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa and Commander 213 Brigade, Colonel SudathRathnayake.
