Displaying a higher state of benevolence and setting an example to others, a great philanthropist Mr. Nishan Wattesinghe living in Australia voluntarily and willingly came forward to finance for constructing a new house for an underprivileged family of N G Karunarathne living in Mahasenpura, Urawa, one of the rural interiors of Vavuniya. Mr Nishan Wattesinghe was made aware of the difficulties faced by Mr. N G Karunarathne and he donated the finance for the project which was personally coordinated by Colonel General Staff of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) Colonel Anil Peiris RSP USP psc.
Due to his generous philanthropy, Security Force Wanni was able to extend the social welfare activity of constructing houses for the benefit of underprivileged people in Wanni region and these Corporate Social Responsibility Projects will be continued with the overall supervision and guidance of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc.
Family of the selected was the most deserving in an area where poverty is in abundance. Having own home would have been merely restricted to a dream if Mr. Nishan Watesinghe had not come forward.
Construction of the house for Mr N G Karunarathne will be carried out by troops of 622 Brigade under the directions of Commander 622 Brigade Colonel Saliya Amunugama RWP RSP and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding - 62 Division Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe.
Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) has already constructed 10 houses for deprived families during last two years and this will be the 11th house.
The foundation stone for the construction of house was auspiciously laid by the General Officer Commanding 62 Division Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe gracing the occasion as the chief guest on behalf of the Commander Security Force (Wanni).
The Divisional Secretary Mr. Jayantha Sri Rathnayake, the Commander 622 Brigade Colonel Saliya Amunugama RWP RSP, Colonel General Staff of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) Colonel Anil Peiris RSP USP psc, many senior military officers, the beneficiary Mr N G Karunarathne together with his family and number of villagers were present at the occasion.
