RELEASING OF LANDS UTILIZED BY THE ARMY IN VAVUNIYA AND MANNAR DISTRICTS

According to the instructions of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) with the careful supervision of Commander Major General KumuduPerera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu handed over 54.38 Acres of Public and Private lands to the Governor North Province Dr Suren Raghawan on 22 January 2019 at the Governor’s Office in Jaffna.These plots of lands were being utilised by the Army after possessing them during the confrontational period occurred in North Province.

In line with handing over theses plots of lands, 54 and 61 Divisions under the supervision of General Officers Commanding of those Divisions Brigadier SenarathBandara RWP RSP ndu and Brigadier JayamapathiThilakarathne RWP RSP stepped to hand over another land plots comprising of 4.5 Acres located in Mannar Districts to the Divisional Secretary Mannar Mr. S Mohanras.These land plots whichare not used by the army at present.

Representing the Commander Security Force (Wanni), the General Officers Commanding of 54 and 61 DivisionsBrigadier SenarathBandara RWP RSP ndu and Brigadier JayamapathiThilakarathne RWP RSP gathered in the occasion of handing over these plots of lands.

Under the instructions given by the relevant higher military authorities, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) has released in total 7194.86 Acres of Public and Private lands utilised by the Army in Security Force (Wanni) Area of Responsibility from 2009 to up to date. Any of these lands were not strategically important or vital for the Army and releasing of these land plots will not be affected critically for the Army in future.
