Madhu Divisional Secretariat located in the Mannar District and the area belongs to the 24 Bn the Gajaba Regiment. Periyapandivirichchan, Sinnapandivirachchan, Periyathampane and Poomalanthan are small villages in the Madhu reserve, and majority of students living they are studing at Periyapandivirichchan Maha Vidyalaya.
Its inhabitants are engaged in agriculture and home-based industries as a means of livelihood, making it very difficult to make a living in the midst of the current economic crisis. The only petrol station in the area is located near to Madhu Junction and the lack of fuel has badly affected their daily routing.
Therefore, with the limitation and restriction of public transport services, it has become a saviour problem for the students to those who are appearing for the GCE (O/L) exam.
Therefore, with the directions of the General Officer Commanding of the 65 Infantry Division, 653 Infantry Brigade provided transport to them by using the bus allocated for the Bde for the students appearing for the GCE (O/L) examination this year, which has benefited large number of students for reaching to exam centre on time and it is a great comfort for their parents.
The teaching staff, public of the area appreciated the timely needed social service initiated by the Army troops.
