Innovative and sustainable agricultural initiatives offer promising solutions to enhance the livelihood of impoverished communities. One such initiative is the distribution of cinnamon plants to low income community living in area of Security Force – Wanni. Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, initiated the project of planting 16000 Cinnamon sapling in Security Force – Wanni are of responsibility with the aim of provide a sustainable source of income, improve economic stability and promote environmental benefits in the Security Force Wanni area.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Salalihinigama and Namalgama, Vavuniya on 11th June 2024 and Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, grace the occasion as the chief guest. General Officer Commanding 21 and 56 Infantry Divisions, Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Commanders of 211 and 563 Infantry Brigades, Commanding officers of 11th Gamunu Watch and 9th Gajaba Regiment, officers, Government Officials, President of Cinnamon Planters’ Association - Vavuniya South, Other Ranks, and beneficiaries from Namalgama and Salalihinigama were participated for the event.
