A mega festival has been organized by the 56 Division to celebrate the Poson festival at the 56 Division play ground at Kokeliya for four days, commencing from 23 June 2013. The ‘Poson Udanaya’ comprised of Poson Pandol, Rice Dansala and entertainment events for kids (Merigo round, Riding in the Maaraka Linda, Samanala Yanaya, Magic show, Kathuru Onchilla) including circus actions; approximately 5,000 people enjoyed the meals at Dansala.
The festivity was primarily focused to develop religious harmony among the multi - religious ethnicity in the area. The inauguration ceremony was held at 7.00 PM on 23 June 2013 under the patronage of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu, psc. The Poson Udanaya was a cohesive effort by the Division Headquarters, Brigade Headquarters and Battalions of the 56 Division under the direction of General Officer Commanding - 56 Division, Brigadier D A R Ranawaka RSP IG.
The Deputy Chief Sanga Nayaka Ven. Attabagaskada Kalyanatissayabidana Nayaka Thero, Brigadier Admin/ Quartering - Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Brigadier A K P Wickramasinghe USP, General Officer Commanding - 54 Division, Brigadier M A M Dias RWP RSP USP psc, Commander 563 Brigade, Brigadier A A I J Bandara, Commander 561 Brigade, Colonel S P Wijesooriya RSP, Senior Superintendent of Police - Mankulam, SSP Champika Siriwardana, Headquarter Inspector -Vavuniya, Chief Inspector S M C D K Aberathne, Mr. Premarathne Sumathipala- Chief organizer SLFP in Vavunia District, Mr. Udayarasan- Sri TELO Vavunya District Organizer and over 5,500 people were among the present to grace the first day event.
