NUTRITION BAGS DONATION PROGRAMME WITH MEDICAL CLINIC FOR NEEDY PREGNANT MOTHERS AND HOUSE DONATION PROGRAMME CONDUCTED IN 54 INF DIV AOR

Two main CIMIC programme were conducted on 11 February 2022 in Mannar Island under the guidance and supervision of the Commander 543 Infantry Brigade Brigadier B I Assalaratchi USP psc, the General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc with the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General C D Ranasinghe RWP RSP on being aware of the difficulties faced by civilians during prevailing Covid – 19 pandemics in the country.

With the coordination of Commanding Officer 7th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment - Major Sujeewa Bandara RWP RSP USP, troops of the battalion arranged a medical clinic and donation programme to distribute essential food items for pregnant mothers in the Mannar area. The clinic was held under the supervision of Dr. SN Hillroy Peiris of the office of the MOH Mannar and examined more than twenty pregnant mothers and prescribed necessary medications and nutrients. Twenty pregnant mothers of needy families were offered gift packs worth of Rs. 13,000.00 consist of nutritious food verities, baby items and sanitary packs with other essentials.

Subsequently a newly constructed home was handed over to Mr. and Mrs. EMK Bandara of Selveri Village. Home was constructed by the troops of 11th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery with the supervision of Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mohan Gunathilake.

General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, graced the both event as Chief Guest and Commander 543 Infantry Brigade Brigadier B I Assalaratchi USP psc, Commanding Officer 11th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Commanding Officer 7th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, OIC Pesalai and several government officials were participate at the occasion.
