THE NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (WANNI) STARTS HIS OFFICIAL VISITS

Prioritising the military customs, the official visits of the newly appointed Commander – Security Force (Wanni) Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc was commenced on 08 July 2019 as the very first visit to Headquarters 21 Division. In same he visited Headquarters of 62 and 56 Divisions respectively on 09 and 10 July 2019.

During the first visit the new Security Force Commander was warmly received by the General Officer Commanding of 21 Division, Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP and bestowed with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) planted an Ironwood (Naa) sapling at the camp premises to mark his visit to Headquarters 21 Division and subsequently gathered in an all rank tea party.

Next segment of the day’s event was a comprehensive briefing made by the General Officer Commanding of 21 Division in relevance to the responsibilities and duties vested to the Division. Culminating the visit, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) addressed a cross section of troops under 21 Division.

In same, the next day was the visit to 62 Division where the newly appointed commander was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding of 62 Division. The visit was highly honoured with the Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour. Later the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) marked his visit planting a Mango sapling inside the camp premises. An inclusive briefing to education the new Commander on duties vested to 62 Division was followed by an addressing a cross section of troops under 62 Division. As a stopover while on the way back after the visit to Headquarters 62 Division was an inspection tour in order to have a close look at the Battalion Training School Kalyanipura.

The visit to 56 Division was taken place on 10 July 2019. Same as other visits, Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc was extremely respected with military norms and customs by presenting him a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour while the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu received him with a warm welcome. In order to mark the visit to 56 Division the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) planted a Sandalwood sapling inside the camp premises. Afterwards the General Officer Commanding 56 Division made a briefing with full of facts in relevance of duties vested to 56 Division. The series of events came to the end with an address of troops under 56 Division by the Commander Security Force (Wanni).

Commanders of respective Divisions, Brigade Commanders Battalion Commanders along with several Senior Officers and large number of Other Ranks made their presence during the visits to their respective Divisions.
