THE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION OF SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (WANNI)
The New Year celebration was organized in an excellent way by Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) on 18th April 2014 at Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) with the direction and guidance of the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Competent Authority for resettling Internal Displaced Personal in Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc. The festival was dominated with the traditional games such as cross country, climbing grease tree, plating cadjan, eye on the elephant, a fancy dress parade, tug-of-war and selecting the best AWURUDU KUMARA and AWURUDU KUMARIYA, while allowing every one to enjoy the festival.
The significant and captivated element of the festival was the traditional Sinhala village that was built according to the rituals and customs of New Year. All the participants were able to visit and enjoy the splendour of this village after the chief guest was warmly welcomed by the ‘Korale Mahaththaya’ (cheif Headman) of the village. Professor Ariyaratne Kaluarachchi who is the Dean of Dance and Drama Faculty, University of Visual and Performing Arts too appear in the scene with the Commander Security Force (Wanni) and played a key role by explaining the customs and traditions that had been maintaining by our past generations and it carried a huge massage and impressed all of the people in updating the knowledge.
All the Division commanders, senior officers, officers other rankers and civil staff of Security Force (Wanni) and their family members took part in this ceremony.
