Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) under the guidance of Commander Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and with the benevolent support of donors joined hand to construct a new house for outstanding Tamil student R. Niwarsana who excelled highest marks in Vavuniya District at the last grade 5 scholarship examination.
After seeing the hardship undergone by R Niwarsana studying at V/Nelukulam Kalei Magal Vidyalaya and Harithik Hansuja studying at V/Shiwapuram Vidyalaya who obtained the second place in Vavuniya District at the Grade 5 scholarship examination, philanthropists Eng. Asoka Weerasinghe and Dr Nandani Weerasinghe donated scholarships to continue their education and it was coordinated by General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier Jayampathi Thilakarathne RWP RSP.
As a continuation of being a supportive hand for the education of R. Niwarsana, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera initiated to construct a new house with the benevolent assistance of Mr Chandana Alahakoon working in an Organisation of the United Nations in Sweden.
This Grade 5 excellent scholar was living with her parents amid lot difficulties with having minimum facilities. This courageous student had undergone her studies even without a proper shelter and learning environment. But she was able to achieve highest results from the scholarship examination held last August. After observing her difficulties Major General Kumudu Perera promptly instructed to support her education in creating a learning environment. As a result of that R. Niwarsana and her parents will be vested with a new house in near future.
Construction of house was commenced on 17 January 2019 after auspiciously laying the foundation stone during a ceremony held with the presence of donors, large military crowd and family members of R Niwarsana.
Representing the Commander Security Force (Wanni), General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana RSP graced the occasion as the chief guest while Senior Military Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) made their presence as a guests of honour.
Construction of house is scheduled to be undertaken by troops under Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) with the careful supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu and the financial assistance will be provided by Mr. Chandana Alahakoon.
