NEW HOME FOR A NEEDY

After observing difficulties faced by Mr U D Lal Kumudu, a civil servant in the Army, and his three small school going children in Moragoda, Megodawewa -Kekirawa, Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera stepped in to assist by providing a home.

When Major General Kumudu Perera made a request to philanthropist Dr. Anula Wijesundera, the Chairperson of “Jayagrahanaya” organization, she willingly and immediately provided bulk of the required finances to construct the house. Rest of the finances to make it a proper home for the children was donated by the owner of Raja Jewellers – Colombo Mr. Athula Eliyapura that was coordinated by the Colonel General Staff Colonel Anil Peiris RSP USP psc.

7 (V) Sri Lanka Armoured Corps under the directions of Commander 212 Brigade Brigadier M P Lamahewa USP under supervision of General Officer Commanding 21 Division Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana RSP contributed immensely to complete the house with electricity, water and all other facilities.

Further, the family of Mr U D Lal Kumudu was gifted with furniture and essential house hold items worth over Rs. 50,000.00.Colonel Anil Peiris and the Civil Affairs Officer Lieutenant Colonel Upul Bandara also arranged to provide a new bicycle to the daughter of Mr. Lal after learning that the girl has to walks few kilometres to school every day.

The event was too graced by Commander of 212 Brigade Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa USP and Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).
