Major General G.W.A Seneviratne USP psc of the Sri Lanka Engineers assumed duties as the 12th General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division amidst military formalities and religious blessings at the Headquarters in Thalladi, Mannar on Tuesday, 04 July 2023.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Afterwards, the new General Officer Commanding placed his signature in a formal document at the auspicious minute and symbolized the official acceptance of the new appointment.
Moments later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the headquarters premises before he addressed the All Ranks in the compound and was briefed about the Area of Responsibility (AOR) during the staff briefing. Division Headquarters Staff Officers, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and under-command troops were present at the occasion.
