Major General M E P Weerasinghe USP ato assumed duties as the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) on Friday, 21 January 2022. A Guard Turn-out was extended to the incoming Commander by the troops of the 2nd Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps at the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central). He placed his signature in the first official document to mark assuming duties, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith in the presence of all Commanding Officers and Senior Staff Officers of Forward Maintenance Area (North Central).
Chief Incumbent of Mirisawetiya, Chancellor of University of Rajarata, Honour in Master of Arts Ven. Ethalawetunuwewe Gnanthilaka Thero and two other priests were also present during the taking over formalities and blessed him for his new appointment. He planted a White Sandalwood sapling (Santalum Album) marking his appointment as the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central). This was followed a group photograph.
Later, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) attended the all Ranks tea with the participation of Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks of the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central). Subsequently, he addressed the troops of Forward Maintenance Area (North Central)
.Prior to new appointment, Major General M E P Weerasinghe USP ato held the appointment of Director, Directorate of Ordnance Services.
All battalions Commanders of Forward Maintenance Area (North Central), Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) were present at the ceremony.
