NEW BRIGADE COMMANDER 653 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSUMES OFFICE

Colonel Sudantha Fonseka USP assumed duties as a new Commander of the 653 Infantry Brigade of the 65 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Wanni, amid religious blessings at the 653 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, Palampiddi on Wednesday (13).

The newly appointed Commander of the 653 Infantry Brigade was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by the troops of the 24 Battalion of the Gajabha Regiment on arrival at the premises. To mark the formal, assumption of duties, Colonel Sudantha Fonseka USP placed his signature in a formal document amidst religious observances in the presence of senior officers and a representative of Other Ranks.

Later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the premises as a gesture of memory. Commanding Officer of under command regiment, Brigade staff and Other Rankers participated the occasion. The formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks following an all Ranks tea with the Commanding Officer of 24 Battalion Gajabha Regiment and Brigade staff culminated the day’s proceedings.
