The Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) formally held the farewell ceremony to its outgoing Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General C D Ranasinghe RWP RSP on Sunday (16) July with military honours. Outgoing commander has been designated as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters.
A Guard Turnout, accorded to the outgoing Commander at the entrance greeted him on arrival and then he was invited to review the Guard of Honour of military salute presented by 4 Battalion Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lanka Army. Then, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) attended handing over formalities at his office in the presence of all Divisional Commanders, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (N/C) and Principle Staff Officers. Thereafter, he endorsed his remarks in the Visitors Book indicating memories during his tenure.
In the middle of the formalities, he addressed the troops where he offered his sincere gratitude to all ranks served in respective formations for high standards of professionalism maintained and service rendered to have a peaceful environment while promoting civil-military coordination in the area.
The Commander during his tenure has launched number of welfare projects in order to elevate living standards of the civil society launching many social welfare projects despite the COVID -19 pandemic, for which he implemented many preventive measures. provision of school stationery items to students, distributing necessaries to pregnant mothers with the assistance of foreign and local well-wishers, donation of houses to poor people etc were among a few of those humanitarian projects.
Towards the end of the day's farewell program, Brigadier General Staff at the Security Forces (Wanni) and all General Officer Commanding gave away a token of appreciation to outgoing Commander Security Forces (Wanni) for his inspiration guidance and methodical command as the Commander Security Forces (Wanni). Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and all ranks witnessed the military formalities.
