MEMORY LANE OF WILPATHTHU WIJAYATHILAKA TEMPLE

Wilpaththu Wijayathilaka Temple in Sinhalagama, Wilpaththu was built by laying foundation stone on 06 December 2020 on the concept of the former Commander of 542 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Suresh Perera RWP along with the personal financial donation of his beloved children, sisters, relations and friends. Subsequently, ViharaMandiraya, Bodhiprakara, GhantaraStambhaya, Dhamma Shalawa with AwasaKutiya and Protective Arakshaka AthPawra were declared open and dedicated for the sake of Sri Sambuddha Sasana by the former Commander of 54 Infantry Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu and the former Commander of 542 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Suresh Perera RWP respectively.

After the dedication of the temple, the construction work of the Pagoda which was a deficiency was laid foundation stones by the Commander of 54 Infantry Division Major General U D Wijesekara RWP RSP USP rcdspsc and the Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces (West) Brigadier Suresh Perera RWP.

Appreciating the contribution of Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims who lives in the area towards the betterment of WilpaththuWijayathilakaTemple,the great Pagoda named as “Sunivana Thambapanni Sama Chaithya” and it was declared open on 13 July 2022 by the Commander of 54 Infantry Division Major General U D Wijesekara RWP RSP USP rcdspsc and the Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces (West) Brigadier Suresh Perera RWP as a tribute to the heroic warriors who sacrificed their lives and disabled during the war and as well as to be awaken the light thoughts of Sinhalagama, Wilpaththu people and foster the cultivation of spiritual virtues to safeguard the perpetuation and revival of the Sri Gauthama Sambuddha Sasana.
