Thai Pongal day Celebration of Security Forces (wanni) area was solemnly conducted on 15th January 2024 at Randewola Kannakai Amman Kovil, Omanthe headed by Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni).
Since immemorial time, the Thai Pongal festival, which brings purity, gratitude, prosperity, happiness and harmony, has been celebrated by the Tamil Hindus to pray to the God of Sun for a bountiful harvest.
The Puja Ceremony was presided over by Brahmasiva Soma Sundaram Nangarasa Kurukkal, the priest of Randewola Kannakai Amman Kovil, District Secretary Mr PA Sarathchandra Major General Manjula Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division ,Officers, other Ranks and a large number of Hindu devotees were participated.
