A dignified formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of new Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri ndu psc on 21 November 2019.
As the first segment of the ceremony, the newly appointed Commander of Security Force (Wanni) was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni). Later on, he paid the tribute to fallen war heroes by laying a floral wreath to the monument.
The day’s significance reached its peak with a guard of honour that were bestowed to the succeeding commander by troops of 20th Battalion the Sri Lanka Singhe Regiment. There, newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni) was received by the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) Major General Rasika Karunathilake psc and Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc.
After the formal military honours, Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri auspiciously took over duties as the 19th Commander of Security Force (Wanni) amid the religious observances. Subsequently he planted a mango sapling in front of the Main Office Complex to mark the assuming of office and then joined an all rank tea party organised at the Other Ranks’ Mess.
General Officers Commanding of all Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of under command battalions, Senior Officers, Officers and number of Other Ranks were present to pay their respect to the newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni).
