The Commander Security Force - Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, assumed officeas the 10th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment during traditional ceremonies held at the Sinha Regiment Headquarter premises in Ambepussa on 7 September 2018.
He succeeds Maj Gen D Wijesinghe. Maj Gen H S Hapuarachchi, Maj Gen G P Kulatunge, Maj Gen J Nammuni, Maj Gen G S C Fonseka (presently Field Martial), Maj Gen S G Karunarathne, Maj Gen D R A B Jayathilake, Maj Gen M H S B Perera and Maj Gen A P de Z Wickremarathne.
Major General Kumudu Perera has held numerous important appointments during his military career in Command, Instructor and Staff appointments at all levels. Within the Battalion he has held all appointments as a young Officer. In Command status he has held the appointments of Platoon Commander, Company Commander,Battalion Second in Command, Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander, Division Commander (General Officer Commanding) and Security Force Commander. He has served in Grade III, II, I and Principal Staff Officer Appointments as a Staff Officer at Army Headquarters and has also been the Commandant of the Army Physical Training School as well as the prestegeous Sri Lanka Military Academy. He has also held the appointments of Director Army Welfare and Director Army Training at the Army Headquarters.
On arrival at the Mother Regiment, Major General Kumudu Perera was honoured with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour with the President’s Truncheon and the Regimental Truncheon being paraded by the Sinha troops.Subsequently he paid his tribute to the monument of fallen war heroes and placed his signature in a formal document symbolizing the acceptance of the new office after lighting the traditional oil lamp amidst religeous observances. Thereafter he attended afelicitation ceramony at the Warrent Officers and Sergents Mess andgave away gift packs to disabled war heroes of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
Major General Kumudu Perera was the former Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment prior to being appointed as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
