MAJOR GENERAL J P C PEIRIS RWP RSP ndc ASSUMED OFFICE AS THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (WANNI)

A dignified formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General J P C PEIRIS RWP RSP ndc on 26 June 2024 as the 31 Security Forces Commander.

Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni). As the first segment of the ceremony, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance by the 7 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, followed by a Guard of Honour at the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Parade Square. Later, Commander paid the tribute to fallen War Heroes by laying a floral wreath to the monument at the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) premises.

Thereafter Commander, Major General Chandimal Peiris placed his signature on an official document at the auspicious time and symbolized the acceptance of the new office. Subsequently a Sandalwood sapling was planted and group photographs were taken with Field Commanders and Staff Officers to mark the event. Finally, he addressed the troops of Security Force (Wanni) and the programme was concluded by all rank tea at the “Mewadana Geya” Other Ranks’ Mess.

General Officer Commanders of Infantry Divisions, Logistic Commander, Infantry Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers attended to the ceremony to pay their respect to the newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni).
